Volusia County Transit Connector Study
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a transit study to identify a recommended alternative or alternatives to provide effective transit service to improve connectivity and mobility within the study area. Central Florida continues to experience substantial population growth, growth in employment, changes in the area's economy, and increases in travel demand. As a result, there is increased congestion and reduced mobility on major arterial roadways within the existing transportation network. Current public transportation services are not adequate to meet the growing mobility needs of the corridor’s workforce, visitors and transit-dependent populations. Thus, it becomes increasingly important to identify opportunities, or alternatives, to provide enhanced transportation service, improve connectivity, and provide mobility and travel choices. Improved transportation connectivity and travel choices will assist to improve our quality of life and economic development while minimizing impacts to the area’s natural, social, and physical environments.
